Digirip - Connecting to TCPIP Port: Part 1

1. This is **Part 1** of a three-part series on configuring printer port connections in **DigiRIP**.
2. Prestige printers use printer control software (such as **PrintExp**) to receive **PRN output files** from DigiRIP.
3. Communication is handled through: **TCP/IP**
4. This is known as a **localhost connection**, meaning data is sent and received on the same computer.
5. This video focuses on **Reason #1** for connection failure: Firewall or antivirus software blocking communication. VERIFY TCP/IP PORT SETTINGS IN DIGIRIP

• **IP Address:** 127.0.0.1
• **Port:** 9100

1. Open **Queue (Q)**.
2. Select **Manage Queues**.
3. Choose the queue you want to use.
4. Set the **Port** to **TCP/IP**.
5. Enter the following: **IP Address:** 127.0.0.1
6. Click **OK**.
7. The queue is now configured for localhost printing. WHEN PRINTING SUDDENLY STOPS WORKING

• **Port:** 9100

1. If printing was previously working and suddenly fails: The system may need a reset.
2. In many cases, this restores communication between DigiRIP and the printer control software. CONFIGURING WINDOWS DEFENDER FIREWALL

1. Click the **Windows** icon.
2. Type **Windows Defender** in the search bar.
3. Open **Windows Defender Firewall**.
4. Click **Advanced Settings**.

1. In the new window, select **Inbound Rules**.
2. Right-click and choose **New Rule**.
3. Select **Port** and click **Next**.
4. Select **TCP**.
5. Under **Specific Local Ports**, enter: **9100**
6. Click **Next**.
7. Select **Allow the Connection**.
8. Click **Next**.
9. Leave all profiles checked: Domain
10. Click **Next**.
11. Enter a name for the rule.
12. Click **Finish**.

1. The new rule should now appear at the top of the inbound rules list.
2. This typically resolves Windows Defender–related communication issues. IMPORTANT NOTES END OF GUIDE

• This process **does not** resolve issues caused by:
• Third-party firewalls
• Third-party antivirus software
• For those cases:
• Contact the software provider
• Create an exception for TCP port **9100**
