- Use this wizard for color garment queues to determine the optimal amount of white ink applied under black and shadow areas.
- Use this wizard only when the customer requires black ink to be printed, rather than using the garment color as a substitute.
- Understand that garment printing requires white ink under colors to prevent fading after washing.
- Note that pretreatment bonds with white ink, not color inks.
- Consult your dealer for additional best-practice guidance.
Launching the Wizard

- Open the Q menu.
- Select Setup How Much White to Use Under Black.
- Choose a file typical of your production work or select a test file from RIP system targets.
- Ensure the image contains black and dark areas.
- Set the image size.
- Click Next.
Configuring Underbase Strength Test

- Set the minimum underbase strength value.
- Set the maximum underbase strength value.
- Set the increment value.
- Example configuration: Minimum: 19
- Confirm that this produces four charts: 19
- Click Print Charts.
- Maximum: 28
- Increment: 3

Selecting the Preferred Underbase Strength

- Print the generated charts.
- Review the printed results.
- Wash the garment to confirm ink bonding and durability.
- Enter the preferred chart value.
- Click Next.
Adjusting White Underbase in Semi-Transparent Areas

- Proceed to the step for determining white underbase in semi-transparent areas.
- Understand this step does not affect the 100% white underbase.
- Note that maximum white underbase is controlled by the Set Maximum White Ink wizard.
- Adjust white separation curves for: Shadows
Selecting White Separation Curve Charts

- Review the four available chart categories: Strong
- Note that chart values range from 50% to 90%.
- Click Print Charts.
- Print as many chart categories as needed.
- Review results and determine the best setting.
- Set the preferred category.
- Enter the selected value to complete the wizard.
