Understanding Perceptual vs Absolute Rendering
00:00:09
- Use Perceptual rendering to compress the source color gamut into the printer’s gamut while preserving overall color relationships.
- Use Absolute rendering to reproduce colors numerically, matching source to destination where possible.
- Note that out-of-gamut colors in Absolute rendering are replaced with the closest available color.
- Use Perceptual rendering primarily for photographs.
- Use Absolute rendering for corporate or spot colors.
- Merge both intents to balance photographic quality and color accuracy.
