DESCRIPTION A manual ink pull is used during initial setup to charge ink lines or as a recovery method to clear heavily clogged nozzles when internal pumps are not strong enough.
Tools Required
What you need
Syringe (minimum 60 mL capacity) Paper towels or absorbent cloth
Open the right-side panel of the printer. Locate the two ink circulation units: Top line = White ink
Ensure the printhead is fully docked on the capping station. Check ink bottle caps: Fully tighten each cap. Place paper towels underneath the circulation lines to catch ink spillage.
Reopen each cap by about a quarter turn to allow airflow.
Identify the top circulation line (white ink). Disconnect the line by rotating it counterclockwise.
Attach the disconnected bottom portion of the white ink line to the syringe. Slowly pull back on the syringe to create negative pressure. Hold the syringe briefly to allow ink to flow in. Once resistance decreases, empty the syringe. Repeat this process until approximately 60 mL of ink has been pulled.
Reconnect the line carefully: Keep the bottom line stationary. Ensure the line sits straight with no twists when resting.
Rotate the top line clockwise to tighten the connection.
Identify the bottom circulation line (color inks). Repeat Steps 3 through 5 for the color ink line. Pull approximately 60 mL total using the same syringe technique. Reconnect the line ensuring no twists remain.
Ink lines are properly charged. Air bubbles and heavy clogs should be cleared. Printer is ready for further maintenance steps or nozzle checks.
