- The goal is to center the capping station directly under the print head.
- Proper alignment ensures correct sealing, cleaning, and flashing behavior.
Initial Alignment Check
- With the printer ON, press the Enter button on the control panel.
- Observe the contact point between the print head and the capping station.
- Optional secondary method: Turn the printer OFF.
- Manually rotate the capping station knob to raise and lower it.
- This allows slower, more precise visual inspection.
- Inspect whether the print head is centered over the capping station.
- If the print head is shifted left or right, adjustment is required.
Entering Factory Mode in Pilot Software
- Open Pilot Software.
- Go to Advance.
- Press Ctrl + F12 on your keyboard.
- Confirm button will change to Factory mode.
- Enter the password: 2222
- Press Enter.
- Depending on your system, this may be:
- Ctrl + Fn + F12
- Ctrl + Option + F12
- Go to the Booth Initialization tab.
- Locate the X Motor section.
- Find the value labeled Hit Limit Back to Zero Distance.
- Understand adjustment behavior: Higher value = carriage moves LEFT
- Current example value: 800 (print head shifted left).
- Reduce the value to move the print head right.
- Change the value in increments of 50 for precision.
- Example adjustment: Change value from 800 to 200.
- Go to File → Save → OK.
- Go to Operation → Initialize.
- Observe the new print head position.
- Lower value = carriage moves RIGHT
- If the print head overshoots and shifts too far: Adjust the value in the opposite direction.
- Example: Change value from 200 to 300.
- Go to File → Save → OK.
- Go to Operation → Initialize.
- Confirm the print head is centered over the capping station.
Verifying X Motor Movement
- In Pilot Software, go to the X Motor tab.
- Change the value to 100.
- Click Check.
- Confirm: Carriage moves to 100 mm.
- Go to File → Save → OK.
- Go to Operation → Initialize.
- Go to the Ink Stack tab.
- Locate Wetting the Ink Stack Height.
- Objective: Cap presses slightly into the print head.
- Current example value: 25,000.
- Adjust in increments of 100–1,000.
- Example: Change value to 20,000.
- Match Pump the Ink Stack Height to the same value.
- Click Confirm and observe behavior.
- Increase slightly if needed (example: 21,000).
- Confirm proper seal without carriage lift.
- Carriage must NOT be pushed upward.
- Locate Flash the Ink Stack Height.
- Objective: Cap should be very close to print head.
- Click Confirm to observe current behavior.
- If touching: Lower the value.
- Example adjustments: 20,600 → 19,600 → Confirm
- Confirm visible gap with no contact.
- No contact during flashing.
- If still touching, reduce further (example: 16,000).
- Use the Left Arrow key to move the carriage left.
- Position the wiper blade under the carriage.
- Locate Scarp the Ink Stack Height.
- Objective: Light contact with the carriage.
- Example: Change value from 7,300 to 8,000.
- Click Confirm.
- Verify solid contact without bending.
- No bending of the wiper blade.
- Perform a head cleaning.
- Verify during cleaning: Ink droplets appear after initial cap contact.
- Wiper blade wipes the print head cleanly.
- Cap is close but not touching during flash step.
- Go to File → Save → OK.
- Go to Operation → Initialize.
- Go to Firmware → Export Firmware Configuration.
- Save file in a secure location.
- Include the current date in the filename.
- Go to Firmware → Export Firmware Configuration Parameters.
- Save with date included in filename. END OF PROCEDURE
